About Rebecca
Rebecca is trained as a hatha, pre- and post-natal yoga instructor, a hypnobirthing instructor, baby massage teacher, Mindful Breastfeeding supporter, UK School of Babywearing supporter, Slingababy consultant and CarryingMatters sling consultant. Rebecca loves learning to share with others what she has found useful along her path through life and parenthood. Seeds to Saplings started as the little seed of an idea for the parent support hub which she wishes she’d had to support her as she navigated (and still navigates!) the different stages of parenthood. It has taken some years to prepare the ground and to finally germinate, but it’s now putting out some wonderful green shoots and Rebecca is keen to see it flourishing season after season!
More about Rebecca’s path
Rebecca first trained as a Yoga Alliance hatha yoga instructor at Centre de Yoga du Marais in Paris in 2011. As some of her yoga students started their journey into parenthood, she quickly saw the need to support them through fertility, pre- and post-natal, so continued her training in 2012 with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli and Lisa White with Yoga Campus. In 2013, she trained with Judith Hanson Lasater, the mother of Restorative Yoga. Over the years, she has also trained with Leslie Howard (pelvic floor yoga) and Leslie Kaminoff (Yoga Anatomy).
While pregnant with her first child in 2015, she trained to teach baby massage. She then chose a hypnobirthing birth preparation course to equip her with the tools and information she wanted to help her make informed choices about the birth of her first child. In 2016, she trained to become a Katharine Graves Hypnobirthing instructor to help other parents inform and equip themselves to have a positive experience of bringing their babies into the world, in whichever way they (or baby) chose. She first visited a sling library, and discovered the freedom and closeness offered by a stretchy wrap, in the early weeks after the birth of her first child and then explored many different ways of keeping her growing baby close in different slings and carriers while getting out and enjoying life. When her second child was born in 2019, slings become even more essential to keep baby close while also having hands free for an active toddler. She decided she wanted to help others experience the bonding, freedom and joy which she had so, in 2019, she first did a Peer Supporter course with UK School of Babywearing and then trained as a sling consultant with Slingababy. Pre-pandemic, she volunteered at the South London Sling Library and then was NCT Bexley’s Sling Library coordinator from early 2020.
After a rocky start with breastfeeding her first child, and a much smoother ride second time round, Rebecca trained in 2021 with the Mindful Breastfeeding School to support other parents on their feeding journey whilst also drawing on all her expertise and experience of yoga linking mind and body. In 2021, she followed The Queer Birth Club LGBT+ Competency for birth workers course and is committed to offering an inclusive support service for all parenting journeys.
In 2022, she did the CarryingMatters sling consultant training which inspired her to find new ways to help others use slings securely and confidently as a parenting tool.
